This is not as convenient as a simple keystroke to SHOW or HIDE the dimensions in a separate LAYER ... (Come on, PlasmaCam!) but it WILL allow you to add dimensions to a drawing and SAVE those dimensions with the drawing, and move them all out of the way when it is time to cut the material.

LUBA 10000 DIVES INTO 9” DEEP TIRE RUT
Переглядів 54Місяць тому
I knew that the more would not be able to traverse this tire rut. it is too wide and it is 9 inches deep so the mower dove into it knows first which of course triggered the front bumper to make it stop. Then the mower did not weigh enough on the wet muddy soil to back itself out of the hole, so this is the first time that it ever got stuck

How do you get it home did they do shipping ? But wow
I am driving down to San Antonio to pick it up.
You've got to be kidding me haha!!
Nope. I was watching this auction and I just had to bid! How often do you find a DHC2 table for only $200.00 ? Joe
Hi How to get your software ?
You purchase a DesignEdge software license directly from PlasmaCam. If you do not own a PlasmaCam cnc plasma cutting TABLE, you can purchase a "DESIGN ONLY" license from them. The HALFTONER program is from Jason Dorie. You can find his software for free download via a Google Search.
Thanx bro
How would you do that with out the 3D option. I just have the big 3 of DE.
It involves more geometry, but it can be done. I am very tired tonight, but I will endeavor to make a video of it soon, to answer your question.
That would be awesome. Your videos have been a tremendous help.
Thank you for time!

Keep believing that shit. I’ll stick to tires designed to be on a motorcycle rim. Have a nice life.
Over 100,000 miles on THREE "car" tires with ZERO issues.
Good for you. Me, personally, I don’t see the benefit. It’s not a money thing for me. I buy quality MC tires. Also, it’s just one more thing I don’t have to worry about. Call it, peace of mind. So, you do you.
I have a mobile welding business, i had bought a 4x4 plasma cam a few years ago, now at this time needing at least a 4x8.
It is possible to expand a 4x4 to 4x8. I have spare 4x4 tables that you can use to do the conversion. Then, you only need to purchase the Customizable Size Upgrade from PlasmaCam for your DesignEdge license. If you are running the older PlasmaCAM 3.xx software, you are already able to expand the table size in that software.
My buddy has one of them and it works really good
I am working out the kinks, but I am happy with it.
That is so cool !!!. But a little tool!!!. I hope it does a good job,,!!!.
I wish they made a much larger one, with a 54" cutting deck!
Yes .. I see that I forgot to include the SLOTS in the cut paths for the machine, so they were deleted with the NOTATIONS cut paths. My bad!
You are a Great teacher!!!!!!!
Thank you humbly, for the compliment.

For this initial test, I did not bother to set up the pen to engage the spring.
You are good!
is there an air assist for the IR laser module?
The air assist can be added to any laser module on the D1 pro

"Now, now, my dear child. No one has ever been forced to take the Transformation if they didn't want it. You see, the problem is simply to discover why you don't want it, and then to make the necessary corrections."
Hey Joe, If I'm looking at this right, there is a command you could use to select them all, with a double click of the left mouse button in a blank space in the file and then combine them. The command is in the edit menu, and it's called Combine, or you can use CTRL-B. Let me know if that works for you. I may have a different level of software or something like that. Double click in the file and then use CTRL-B.
Yes, the COMBINE function does this MOST of the time. However, the Combine feature can delete paths and eliminate detail when there is a closed path inside of a closed path, etc. But the Combine function is NICE, most of the time!
It sure would be nice if plasmacam listened to owners and addressed some of these software deficiencies.
To be fair to PlasmaCam, they must sell software upgrades to FUND future software development, which is really expensive. When people do not purchase the upgrades, there is little money there to hire talented programmers to add features. I know, you probably believe that PlasmaCam is already filthy rich, so they are just cheap! Businesses run on very thin profit margins. Also, making changes to the software, and legally PROTECTING those changes are two different things. Yes, they could probably add in some awesome functions, but unless they re-up the Copyrights on the software, and file all of the papers, and pay all of the lawyers ... those improvements would be lost. The protections PlasmaCam has on DesignEdge software is for the features it has NOW. Anything added is not "automatically bundled" with the older software. It is one thing to paint your house green. It is quite another thing to secure and defend your legal right to prevent anyone else from painting their homes green for the next 20 years. Joe
Thanks for your response. I would gladly pay for the software upgrades. I really don’t care about their net worth. If they are a good company they deserve their success. I use Lightburn on a laser as well. They are constantly adding updates and new features. I am grateful for your videos, they have helped me create files that I was struggling with due to what I feel like are software deficiencies.
What do you mean at ?

All shapes are drawn at locations that are in reference to 0,0, which is the lower left corner of your table's drawing area inside of the gray box. You can draw a line or a shape based at ("@") 0,0, or at ("@") any other coordinate. To draw a 4" x 4" box that is 8 inches X and 12 inches Y, with the lower left corner located at 0,0, you type: [W] - Select the square or rectangle drawing tool [8] [,] [12] [ENTER] To draw that same box with the bottom left corner LOCATED at another specific X and Y distance from 0,0, type: [W] Type the X and Y coordinate for the lower left corner of the shape [X] [,] [Y] [ENTER] OR [W] [CLICK] the mouse at the location where the lower left corner of the box will be placed, and type: [@] [X] [,] [Y] [ENTER] The box will appear with the lower left corner located at the [X] and [Y] coordinated you entered. Thank you getting use to this .
As always, Brilliant!
Thank you for the compliment. I have a TERRIBLE memory. I have forgotten a lot about DesignEdge because I do not use all of the functions on a daily basis. but once in a while, a sleeping neuron fires in my brain, and I REMEMBER something i had forgotten! This process is faster than manually offsetting each individual hole, one at a time, or centering copies of a smaller hole at the center of each original hole. I really like this function! Joe
Wow you have some time in that. Sure looks like it would be much better than plasma cam grates.
Hey Joe, Is your vector file for the grates available?
Holy cow! I forgot to put up a link to download it! Yes, I can either send it directly to anyone who requests it via trainmenow@mail.com, or I will see if I can put it up for download on Google Drive, and provide a link. I will do that right now! I am glad you liked it! These are fairly simple to draw. The important things are to keep the measurements and angles correct.
Hello Joe, planning to get a CNC router, now I have a Samson 510 and wondering if PlasmaCams software and a router is the way to go?
I do run a router on my 510 table. It CAN be done. Although the Samson table (and the PlasmaCam table, and the Go Torch) are three-axis cnc tables with .005" precision on the X and Y, and .002" precision on the Z, it is important to note that a dedicated cnc ROUTER machine that uses a spindle rather than a router, and has tighter tolerances on the gantry and carriage movements MAY give you better results. I have been very happy with the things I have created using a DeWalt 611 1.25HP router and a BOSCH 2.25HP router on my Samson table. I have carved wood, and foams, and acrylics, and other materials. I even experimented with aluminum, however I did not have the correct bit, so the end result was a bit ... crude. It WILL route aluminum though. The accuracy of a router on a Samson table (or ANY PlasmaCam table) is LARGELY dependent on the cleanliness of the machine, and how well you MAINTAIN it. If your rails are worn down, if your cam follower bearings are grungy and do not rotate freely, if your springs are fatigued and unable to support the gantry with the router, if you are using DULL router bits, if you try to exceed the feed rates of the bits through the material you are routing ... you will not get good results. I will say that I have a LOT MORE FUN using a router on my Samson table, than any cutting I have done with the plasma cutter.
@@joeinkentucky Thank you Joe, I was looking for a cost effective way to make things. Having 2 lasers and the 510 most space in my shop is used up. A cnc router has been on my must have list for a while and not have to learn one more computer program would be nice. Is designing in Fusion 360 and using dfx files in Plasmacam possible?
I have not tried to bring a Fusion 360 file into DesignEdge for 2D routing. I do not know how that would work, but I won't say that it will not work. I use Vectric Software V-Carve 11.0, which creates great G-Code files that can be imported into DesignEdge when you have the $998.00 Full 3D upgrade activated. Joe
I watch all your videos, very helpful! thank you
I am glad they help you!
It's a good thing Knox wasn't in a bad mood.
I really liked this movie! And Sidney Portier was the American Success Story!
Can you do that with design edge too?
This WAS done using DesignEdge.
@@joeinkentucky I should of said with the design edge that comes with the machine, not the upgraded version.
When you purchase the machine you have the option to purchase any or all of the upgrades, or any level in between. The BASIC design software will not let you do this. However the ADVANCED design software upgrade gives you this capability. I purchased my first table with the Full Monty of upgrades, everything they offered.
Can you do vs video with the IR vs Diode on anodized?
Yes, perhaps later in the Spring. Right now all of the lasers (except one) are STILL in the original shipping boxes, waiting to be set up on the second floor of the FrankenBarn. I really need to get out there and get everything set up and plugged in! I could use some HELP!
Don’t know Robert but I do know that I learnd almost everything about how to operate my PlasmaCam 510 from you Joe, and I am VERY glad I found your videos.
Thank you for the compliment! Most of my videos are made to answer one person's question. It is easier to make a video that a person can watch repeatedly if necessary to grasp the points I make in the videos, than to attempt to talk someone through a problem over a telephone, a private conversation that no one else can benefit from. I am always open to new topics for future videos!
Joe, I want to tell you how much I appreciate your willingness and effort to give back the knowledge and experience you have gained over the years. Your style of teaching is very clear and extremely helpful. Without your videos, I would be nowhere near the level I am today. Each time you produce a new video, my knowledge bank account goes up. Please keep up the good work! Unfortunately there are little, little people like this one on Facebook who think that they have to tear down others to make themselves look good. You’ve got to feel sorry for them. Thank you again for what you do.
I make most of these videos to answer one person's question about something. It is easier to make a video that he or she can watch repeatedly to grasp the entire message, rather than try to talk someone through a problem over the phone, which benefits no one but the person on the other end at the moment. I hope people will continue to request videos on various topics involving DesignEdge software and the PlasmaCam tables. I make these videos for FUN! They are ALWAYS free to view, to refresh one's memory about something.
Thank you!
You're welcome! I like it because it is FAST to pull up ALL of the menus. F5 to see everything, F7 to return to the table view!
I enjoyed the video. Always learn something. Is there a way to move the torch by just moving the mouse, or do you always have to use the “move to” function?
I have not actually TRIED this yet, but I am told that a certain WIRELESS GAMING CONTROLLER can be programmed to operate the table, such as moving the carriage and gantry with the joystick, and firing the torch, and initializing, etc. I am not sure WHICH gaming controller is needed, but I do know that PlasmaCam built this capability into their software.
Thanks. Your solutions are always very informative
This is all FUN for me!
Hello Joe, just wondering what value you have assigned to the pierces and inches cut in today's current market??
Ten cents per pierce. Five cents per cut inch.
Joe, do the plasma cam and Samson tables both use the same design edge software?
Yes. Although PlasmaCam CLAIMS that the 4x4 DHC2 PlasmaCAM table is independent from the Samson 510 table and their "little brother," the GoTorch, all three machines are sold by the same company, use the same parts, and run under the same software.
@@joeinkentucky thank you, I bought a 4x4 table, I wish I'd gone and purchased a 5x10 instead
I thought long and hard about it and decided to buy the 510 table instead of the 4x4. I have not regretted the additional space!
@@firehousecustomfab3286 With just a little redneck engineering, you can buy a USED 4x4 table and expand your table to a 4x8 format. You would need to purchase the CSU Customizable Size Upgrade for DesignEdge software, and do some cutting of the table legs, etc., to mate the two tables together into one. It CAN be done!
Thank you Joe!! You have been an amazing professor!!! So easy to understand and communicate with. Your lesson sessions have made huge leaps and bounds with this software!
Thank you for the compliment.
Question for you! So I have a 4' x 4' table and I have a ton of DXF files. I am wanting to use some templates to make firepits. The issue I am running into is that the fire pits come in 2 pieces, 1 being the top part and the 2nd being the bottom part, so how would I go about scaling them to the same size? I worry if I scale one down to fit the table, I won't have the same size when I scale the other one down. I was hoping there is a way to bring them roughly to the same size so that they fit properly together when assembled. Thank you for your time!
I would need to see the dxf files you are talking about. "Top part" and "Bottom part" are not clear. There is no "top part" to a fire pit, but there IS a top part to a bar-b-que. The "bottom part" is usually the base plate that catches the ashes, and MAY also have legs or feet that sit on a sandy beach or the ground itself. Send the .dxf file in question to me at addmenow (at) mail (dot) com Tell me what you want to do with it,, and I will make a video showing you how to scale the drawing correctly.
@@joeinkentuckyokay I will send you the file tomorrow when I get access to my computer. Thank you for your time! I guess what I meant to say is that it’s in 2 sections, both sections are the same size but each will need resized to fit the table. If I resize one, I want to make sure the other ends up the same size as well if that makes sense. I’ll send it over to you when I get the chance tomorrow!
I will watch for the file and respond via email
@@joeinkentucky I sent you an email first thing this morning with the DXF files attached. Let me know if you get them. Thanks so much for your time!
I got the files. I am not sure what you mean by scaling down both sections "to fit the table." Give me a call!
Amazing ! Thanks Joe
Glad you liked it!
@joeinkentucky so glad we have amazing software to do this! I wonder if it was just sloppy work or if they intentionally did not center things correctly
I think it was sloppy work. Why would a circle NOT be concentric with the outer circle? If the font was shaped to accommodate an offset center circle, MAYBE. But I think this was just a sloppy error.
Thanks. Always great solutions!!
You bet!
Excellent
Thanks

On inside torch corners less than 90degrees particularly when dealing with small letters its a good idea to clip the tip with a line and trim it out. This prevents the round burnout mark when going into tight corners. It makes a world of difference . Ive been drawing 22 years on one of the early machines. I see you didnt do it on this drawing. If you want to jump on zoom for a second Ill show you what i mean.
You are talking about a chamfer. That is not an automatic process, but it is simple to do manually, by setting a chamfer width and clicking on tight bends. You can also do a fillet that is 1/2 the diameter of your kerf width and the sharp corners will be reduced to curved corners that the torch can fit into.
Yes. I guess it is a chamfer. Like I said, my drawing program is 22 years old. without the bells and whistles. Makes sense. fg v@@joeinkentucky
Yes, I guess it is a chamfer. Like I mentioned, my drawing program is 20 years old without the bells and whistles. Makes sense. Ill go sit in the corner. @@joeinkentucky
@@3dservicesllc Thank you for the suggestion! For those who are not familiar with the chamfer or the fillet, your suggest would work quite well! It is a way of dulling the point so the torch is not struggling to wedge itself into tight spaces. You are absolutely correct about this technique of "clipping" the points with a line and trimming off the sharp points. I hope you did not receive my reply as rejective, because you HAVE provided a good answer for people who do not know what to do, to deal with this issue!
@@3dservicesllc I do like your suggestion. I really wish that the DesignEdge software would AUTOMATICALLY "dull" sharp points in drawings, so that it does not need to be done manually. Imagine taking a drawing and with a simple keyboard command, EVERY sharp point in the design would receive a fillet of 1/2 the kerf width! Wouldn't THAT be a handy addition!
Thanks for the tutorial. It’s called a saddle tree.
That makes sense! I couldn't think of the name of it, and I didn't bother to search the Net.
Awesome video Joe!!!! Thank you so much for the help!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS IS SO WITTY
This solved my issue today. Thank you for sharing
Can you erase a cut path once it’s been chosen? I have found on a few of my projects I’ve been getting random double cut paths on some text & I don’t know how it happened or how to eliminate it.
Yes. Click on the cut path and press DELETE. If you SELECT the cut path using the marquis (dragging the mouse around the cut path) you will delete ALL of the cut paths inside of the marquis. However, if you CLICK on a cut path that may be laying over another cut path, you will only delete the top layer which is the path you clicked on.
